Class Prevails
Great racing at Ellerslie and Otago yesterday, and the best horses won the best races. Vespa, Bounding and Silent Achiever were too good in the group races at Auckland, and Madam Victoria cruised away with the black type race at Wingatui. Favourite Soubrettes pulled up distressed after that race and needed vet treatment: hopefully she is ok.
Trackman’s day began with a bang at Otago, his top tip Commanding Oak $4.80/$1.70 anchoring a $362 trifecta in the first. He struck gold in race 5, with a $675.90 first four and a suggested best trifecta of the day at $176.30. Overall, seven winners at Otago, 5 quinellas, 2 trifectas and that first four.
At Ellerslie Trackman got his bet of the day, Benzini, up at $5.20, only for the stipes to take it away. Luckily, it was a special fixed odds race where the TAB pays out on the winner, even if relegated.
Overall, seven winners there too, including In Style $7.70/$2.80 and The Tidy Express $4.80/$1.80.
